Several Local Government Units (LGUs) across Luzon and Metro Manila have declared class and government work suspensions for Monday, August 10, 2026. The suspensions follow continuous heavy rainfall brought by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which has logged over 300 mm of cumulative rainfall across major waterways and flood-prone communities.
📍 Summary of Suspensions (Monday, August 10, 2026)
Pursuant to local disaster risk reduction protocols and DepEd Order guidelines, the following local government units have issued official executive orders canceling classes and/or work:
⛰️ Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) & Region I
- Province of Abra: Class suspensions in all levels (public and private), as well as work in all government offices.
- Pangasinan (Dagupan City): Class suspensions in all levels (public and private); government work suspended.
- Ilocos Sur (Santo Domingo): Class suspensions in all levels (public and private).
🌾 Central Luzon (Region III)
- Province of Bulacan: Suspended in all levels, both public and private schools.
- Province of Nueva Ecija: Suspended in all levels, both public and private schools.
- Pampanga: Class suspensions in selected municipalities monitoring elevated flood levels.
🏙️ Metro Manila (NCR) & CALABARZON (Region IV-A)
- Marikina City: No face-to-face and online classes in all levels, public and private.
- Batangas (Lemery): No face-to-face classes in all levels (public and private); schools shifted to modular or distance learning modalities.
- Note: Other NCR Local Chief Executives are continuously assessing rainfall volume and river levels for further announcements.
Essential Services & NDRRMC Guidelines
Agencies and local offices involved in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM), health, emergency rescue, law enforcement, and vital utility operations are required to maintain skeletal workforces or full operational readiness without interruption.
Suspension of work in private companies remains under the discretion of company management, guided by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Advisories regarding extreme weather hazards.
Per DepEd guidelines, in-person and online classes are automatically suspended in areas placed under PAGASA Heavy Rainfall Warnings (Red/Orange/Yellow) or Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals.
