Palace Issues Memorandum Circular No. 122 (s. 2026): Suspension of Government Work and Classes Extended Due to TS Maymay & Habagat
🏛️ Public Sector Advisory:
By authority of the President, Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto signed Memorandum Circular No. 122, ordering the full suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels across NCR and major Luzon provinces on August 6, 2026, due to severe weather from Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
Jurisdictional Coverage & Geographical Scope
Based on the formal recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the suspension applies to public offices and educational institutions within the following jurisdictions:
Covered Regions & Local Government Units:
Essential Services & Mandatory Agency Mandates
Agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital public services shall continue their operations and render necessary services without interruption.
The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads of enterprise, guided by relevant Labor Advisory guidelines and local risk assessments.
Local Chief Executives in provinces outside the explicitly listed regions maintain full authority to declare local suspensions within their respective territorial jurisdictions pursuant to Executive Order No. 77 and existing LDRRMC protocols.
