Work and Class Suspensions Declared for August 5 Due to Tropical Storm Maymay

Brief Summary: The MalacaƱang has issued Memorandum Circular No. 121 (s. 2026), officially suspending work in government offices and classes at all levels in the National Capital Region (NCR) and select provinces starting at 3:00 PM today, August 5, 2026.

Why the Suspension?

Following the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the suspension was declared in anticipation of continuous heavy rainfall. This inclement weather is brought about by the combined effects of Tropical Storm Maymay and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Affected Areas

The suspension applies to the National Capital Region (NCR) and the following provinces:

  • Abra
  • Ilocos Sur
  • La Union
  • Benguet
  • Pangasinan
  • Zambales

Exemptions to the Rule

Please note that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services will continue with their operations to render necessary services to the public.
